Because of the agility of these creatures it may not be possible to completely stop them. However there are common entry points that can easily be dealt with by DIY.
- Fill all the gaps around pipes.
- Fix perforated metal around air vents at the base of the buildings, and on walls to a height of up to 3 metres.
- Fill all gaps around windowsills and door thresholds.
- Fit a metal kick plate to a gap of more than ¼ inch under external doors.
- Fix a batten to the floor to fill the gap under an integral garage door.
- Fill any holes where services go through the walls in garages and external meter cupboards.
- Make sure old waste pipe holes are filled after a replacement sink has been installed.
